I am a Viking!

North Side High School Alumni Association

Dear Viking Alumni, Friends and Supporters,

Lots of exciting things have happened since we have last been in touch.  The most exciting thing to report is that the North High Boys Soccer Team made it all the way to the 4A Colorado State Championship Game.  This would have been the first opportunity for our school to reach a team state championship since 1977 when our boys captured the State Baseball Championship.  Sadly, our Vikings fell to Windsor High School with a final score of 1-0.  Still, all of us at our Viking Nation, friends and alums, send our sincerest congratulations to our Viking Soccer Squad!  I know I cannot wait until next season to see how well they do and how far they go.  Please read the next issue of VIKS to learn about the numerous individual state championships our school had had since the 1970s.

As the pandemic eases, it is our sincerest hope that we can once again host in-person events for our community.  The Alumni Board of Directors has talked about hosting events.  We are eager to get back into our alma mater to host the annual birthday and awards dinners.

It is important to note that the Denver Public Schools Board of Education has selected Dr. Alex Marrero who was the Assistant Superintendent of a Suburban New York School District to serve as Superintendent of Denver Public Schools.  The North Side High School Alumni Association plans to extend a warm welcome to Dr. Marrero as soon as he settles in with DPS.

Humbly, Respectfully and with Viking Pride,
Isaac S. Solano
